Purchased this as a safety item for colorado elk hunting. Today we had some storms go through the area so afterwards i decided to pick up sticks and branches that came down. I figured this was the perfect test to teg kut my new kit. Absolutely amazed, it kit with the first strike and burnt kong enough to get my wet branches burning.

I have never been able to start a fire with any of the magnesium bar sets. I could barely even get them to spark. I scanned the QR code and watched the video, then did what it said. I was very surprised I had fire on the first strike with minimal sparks. Really, it was less effort than flicking a lighter and holding it under leaves or whatever. This tin is now in my hunting bag, and I will probably buy more plugs and make a kit to leave in my camper too.

My wife bought this for me for Christmas. Tried in the garage and lit after the 2nd or 3rd strike. I can see where this is going to be great camping/hiking. The one con is the with the starter pack, the rod is a little short ( for me anyway ). So guess I'll order the rod with handle next. Other than that minut issue, it 5 stars.

I purchased fire starters from Bigfoot Bushcraft about a year ago and have used them for starting fires in my wood burning Chimenea multiple times. These things make it much easier to get a fire started! My recent purchase was for a friend that I snowmobile with each winter. He had mentioned that it would be a good idea to bring a way to get a fire started in case we ever get stranded in the middle of the Adirondacks. So I brought mine, and purchased another kit and extra starters for him. Everyone that does things out in the wilderness should have these, just in case!

But I was disappointed that I didn’t get my “free” 30 extra plugs that were meant to come as, if I remember correctly, was a Black Friday deal?
